Nature Play Sandpit

Nature Play

At Lockleys Primary School we promote Nature Play in our school. Our oval and sandpit area has been developed by our parent community in conjunction with Simon Hutchins, Director of Climbing tree and a nature play and sustainability consultant.

Nature play promotes learning through group work, cooperation and communication. It stimulates brain development, imagination and creativity. Students learn to address risk taking in natural play spaces.

Sand Water Play

At the oval and sandpit areas Students are free to play with sand and water. The sandpit area has a rainwater pump and a sand kitchen area. They play and learn through experiences with sand and water.

Loose Parts Play

On the oval Students explore and create using a variety of nature objects, which can be moved, and manipulated stimulating creativity.

Cubby Building

On the oval Students design and work in groups to construct bush shelters and engage in creative play.
