What to do if your child is about to start school

Most children will be attending preschool/kindergarten before starting school. The preschool/kindergarten will have information for you in regard to the starting school process for your child and how to enrol at your local school.

We welcome prospective families to join a school tour. Our school tours are an opportunity to see student learning in action and explore school facilities and speak with our school Principal Sharon Brightwell.

Kindergarten Transition 

The process for transition for pre school to school is as follows: 

  • When you enrol your child, the school will provide you with an information package relating to school curriculum and general school procedures. 
  • If your child has attended pre school or child care and copy of your child’s summative report is forwarded onto the school. 
Students commencing at the start of the year  
  • In fourth term of the year prior to your child beginning school, you will receive a letter inviting your child to attend a series of transition visits. There will also be an information session for parents and an opportunity to meet the teacher and hear about classroom procedures.  
Students enrolling for the mid-year intake 
  • In second term of the year your child enrols in school you will receive a letter inviting your child to attend a series of transition visits. There will also be an information session for parents and an opportunity to meet the teacher and hear about classroom procedures.  

The class teacher will visit your child’s kindergarten or child care to observe and gain insight into your child and their specific learning, social and emotional needs. The class teacher will also discuss your child’s progress with Kindergarten or Child Care Educators.
